Luxury at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons

On Wednesday 3rd July, Elite Members and Elite Leaders of Usborne Books at Home's Team Usborne initiative attended 'Luxury at Le Manoir' - a extra-special event which culminated in a 9-course meal at Raymond Blanc's celebrated two-michelin starred restaurant in Oxfordshire, to reward their hard work over the last few months.
As the day of celebration began last Wednesday, delegates arrived early at the Oxford Belfry hotel (where they would later be enjoying an overnight stay) to make the most of the hotel's leisure facilities, whilst catching up with fellow Usborners.
After a relaxing afternoon, it was soon time to get dressed for an evening of culinary delight.
Guest of honour, Usborne founder Peter Usborne MBE, welcomed and inspired attendees at a pre-dinner champagne reception; where he spoke of world domination and thanked Organisers for their part in the company's overall success.
A luxury coach then arrived to transport everyone to Le Manoir, where aperitifs and cocktails were served in the venue's stunning grounds.
There were wide eyes and big smiles all round when the first of nine course was delivered to the table, as Divisonal Leader, Kate L'argent described it: "From the first mouthwatering dish 'A theme on tomatoes' until the last of 'Our millionaire shortbread', every single course was delicious. I have an Usborne rule, to not read the menu at events, so I couldn't always tell what each dish was, but they were all truly divine".
During dinner, Peter Usborne, Usborne Books at Home's Marketing Director, Mark Franklin and Leadership Support Manager, Val Knight all circulated to recognise and celebrate the achievements of every attendee.
Team Leader, Lisa Balmforth, said: "It was an incredible experience! The organisation was spot on making the whole evening so natural and relaxing, despite the sheer extravagance of the venue and menu. Thank you to the wonderful Peter, Val and Mark for taking a seat at each table and sharing stories, suggestions and experience. It was an unforgettable night!"
Once the cafe "Pur Arabica", petits fours et chocolats du Manoir had been finished it was time to head back to the Oxford Belfry hotel where our very happy, albeit full delegates, chatted over another glass of champagne or headed to bed.
The following morning, there was a full English breakfast (for those that could manage it) and excitable Usborne chatter all round:
"I feel thrilled and elated after experiencing the ultimate of dining experiences at Le Manoir. I also can't believe that I managed to eat breakfast in the morning at the very nice Oxford Belfry hotel! Our room had a fabulous view over the beautiful courtyard garden. I am now sitting looking at my cherished souvenir menu reliving each course and am so glad that I was part of it all." Kirsty Unsworth, Team Leader.
And that brings us to a close of another successful and memorable Usborne event, thank you to everyone who attended for making it so special. Our final word goes to Team Leader, Kelly Israel:
"Le Manoir was such a treat. Incredible food, delicious and perfectly matched wines, impeccable service and a wonderful environment. Meeting Peter Usborne and absorbing his story and passion for all things Usborne was amazing. Mixing with the Usborne Elite has enabled me, as a newly promoted Team Leader, to absorb lots of ideas for now and the future to further build my business. Never did I think my first night away from my daughter would be such an affair! I feel inspired, motivated and am buzzing about Usborne so it's time to "sell that sizzle"...".
