Organiser of the Month - Danielle Johnson

23rd July 2020

We love hearing about what motivates Organisers to build their businesses, their way. From having a little extra pocket money for those little luxuries, to enabling a career change that results in a work-life balance that suits the whole family; our Organisers' "whys" are what drives them to "do a little more Usborne" every month.

July's Organiser of the month not only achieved her "why", but has become an inspiration to everyone around her in the process.

Danielle was nominated by her teammate, Lee-Ann:

"Last year at Usborne Books at Home's Dream Bigger event, Danielle stood up in front of all of the Organisers attending and shared her story with everyone. She was so nervous but everyone in the room loved her dream and goals.

This week was not only her birthday, but she has also recently achieved Group Leader status and has earned enough to reach her goal of financial independence, which I think deserves a huge mention.

Danielle is fabulous and totally encourages and inspires a lot of other Organisers. She is such a credit to the division – I've made a friend for life!"

Danielle shares her Usborne story with us:

"Hello! I'm Danielle, single mum to Maria, aged five, and Amelie, who's four. We live in a little town in County Durham. I'm also a unit manager of a school kitchen.

When I joined Usborne back in January 2018, it was to get free books for my girlies. As a single parent, money was tight and books weren't a main priority (although I really wanted them to be), so I saw Usborne as an opportunity to get those books and maybe earn some extra money along the way!

I soon realised that I had a passion for Usborne, for the team around me, and my little business. I began team building and was lucky enough to promote during my Double Promotion Bonus timeframe. Since then I've been on a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs with my business, but I've always come back to my "why", which is why I keep going with Usborne.

To cut a long story short, In June last year I was asked to share my story at our first Dream Bigger event. During my nerve-wracking time on stage talking about my journey, I mentioned how I wanted Usborne to become a way of me being less reliant on benefits.

As someone who had had no choice but to suddenly rely on the system after years of being financially independent, it was a huge move for me. Fast-forward to a year on, last month I earned enough money from my job and my Usborne business to finally say that I have reached my goal. I won't get any benefits this month due to my combined earnings, and it feels amazing!

My business has blossomed during lockdown. I've been lucky to have had the time to really focus on Usborne again – I've managed to promote a new Leader in my team as well as achieve Group Leader in June. I've had time to put new processes into place around my day job and my girlies have helped me with my Facebook lives and our deliveries. We've just had a lovely time working Usborne together. They're running out of books they want now!

What started out as something to pay for days out and a means of getting free books is now contributing to keeping the roof over our heads, and I'm so thankful to Usborne and the amazing community we have for that.

I'm looking forward to what's coming for 'silly season' and to watching my team grow even more. They really are amazing and I'm so proud of them all!"

Congratulations, Danielle, and thank you for sharing your story with us. An August new title of your choice will be on its way to you soon.
