Organiser of the Month - Hannah Davies

29th June 2020

We love hearing about all of the different ways Usborne Organisers use creativity to excel in their businesses! Since joining in October 2018, our July Organiser of the month has used her online presence to build a community that has come into its own over recent months.

Hannah was nominated by her Mentor, Beth:

"Hannah has been an Organiser for almost two years now. She joined my team in October 2018 and, from the very start, her brand identity, focus and plans have been really clear. She has built a business to be proud of!

Instagram is her platform and she excels at making the most of it – she has attracted the attention of some pretty big influencers with her unique style. Grizzly Books has grown and grown, and her posts are instantly recognisable.

Since March and the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, Hannah's business has absolutely flourished. Her sales each month have more than tripled from previous months as she has really tuned into what her followers and customers want to see. Her online presence more than makes up for what we can't do offline at the moment!

Hannah, like most of us, has a super busy life, but she has also taken the first steps to building her own team during lockdown and is excelling at being a mentor. I am really looking forward to seeing what the months ahead hold for Hannah and Grizzly Books. I am a very proud mentor!"

Hannah shares her Usborne story with us:

"I signed up as an Organiser when my maternity leave came to an end after having our second child. I was already a self-employed geologist having left full-time employment after our first child, but wanted something simpler which I was more in control of with regards to timeframes and the flexibility of having something to focus on around family life and being a mama to two young children.

I have always loved Usborne books since primary school. I was and still am drawn to the wonderful illustrations. They are, after all, the first 'word' a child reads. What I didn't expect when signing up was the network of fun and amazingly supportive team members within my division and the friendship I would form with a supportive mentor in Beth.

Having the flexibility to work how I wanted from day one meant I focused more on an online presence as this worked well with having two children under four, which limited my ability to get out and about with my books. Building this online presence has helped massively over the ongoing lockdown as the networks and relationships I have built on social media platforms over the past 18 months have allowed me to get Usborne resources to parents and families who need them.

Having a website for people to order direct from has also been a big help as customers have felt much safer having books delivered to them from the warehouse. It has also attracted new customers who prefer the perceived security of shopping through an official website.

The current selling climate has allowed me to try new ways of selling online via different social media platforms, some of which have been a great success and have even helped me to start my own team.

Knowing I have helped children currently out of school and preschool to continue learning through fun and different methods makes me do happy dances!

I've worked with a number of schools and preschools and love organising events for them. The excitement I get as they receive boxes and boxes of brand new books for the children is fantastic. I am looking forward to working with more schools and preschools once teaching has settled down again – hopefully when the new school year starts.

I am loving my Usborne adventure and can't wait to see how my little business evolves as my children grow and my role of mama changes with them."

Congratulations, Hannah, and thank you for sharing your story with us. A July new title of your choice will be on its way to you soon.
