Organiser of the Month - Carron Charlesworth

29th April 2020

The past few months have undoubtedly proved a challenge for us all as we've adjusted to new environments and working styles. Our April Organiser of the month, Carron Charlesworth, has been an inspiration to us all, adapting her business overnight to overcome the obstacles posed by Covid-19 – and receiving some amazing and well-deserved press coverage in the process!

Before the current situation unfolded, Carron was already achieving wonderful things with her business. Take a look at her success story on the Direct Selling Agency's website.

We asked Carron just how she has found opportunity in challenge over recent weeks, making highly effective changes to her business that have led to fantastic results:

"I'm usually an offline seller. I like getting out-and-about with my books, having face-to-face recruiting conversations, and working with schools to run book fairs and sponsored reading events – so being on lockdown has been a big challenge for me!

I have basically reverted back to when I very first joined Usborne in 2015, and have gone back to my old working pattern and way of selling books. I would come home from my day job, and then I would work online of an evening after having put my twins to bed. I knew I could do it then and made it a success, and I knew that with some adapting I could do it again.

I'm currently home-schooling during the day, but I schedule posts for my business page to keep things ticking over. I do a little happy dance when people come to me out of the blue needing educational resources, books and activities!

My focus on recruiting has also moved completely online and, so far in April, ten lovely people have joined my team. I have also been using this time to follow up with teachers who were running Ready, Steady, Reads earlier this year, and have been planning further into the year with them.

I'm exceptionally proud of the community vibe within our division. It is so positive and friendly – we all work hard as one big tribe, pulling together and helping each other out. I've been doing weekly online events with a difference to try and keep everyone's spirits up too!

All of this has resulted in us enjoying our best March ever!"

Congratulations, Carron, and thank you for sharing your story with us. A May new title of your choice will be on its way to you shortly.
