Focus on - fitting Usborne around your family

1st May 2013

Nina Petty

Usborne Organiser, Nina Petty shares her story of achieving success with Usborne and recently promoting to Team Leader whilst heavily pregnant! Nina has two other children under age five, and previously worked in a job with fixed hours.

Over to you Nina:

"When I found out we were adding another addition to our family, I decided to make Usborne my full time job.

The Spring Conference and Gala in January 2013 made me realise how achievable it really was. With the fabulous incentive to promote to Team Leader before the end of April, in order to become a member of Team Usborne’s Elite and to attend a special 40th birthday event at Le Manoir, I knew this was going to be my Usborne year.

There was one small hurdle in the way - I was pregnant and my due date was at the beginning of April! Being pregnant and building my Usborne business was not without challenges, especially doing a crazy Usborne Christmas season - I merely had to redistribute my books into multiple boxes and not be afraid to ask for help with carrying and lifting boxes at events - plus my husband was a huge help with loading and unloading my car.

Planning ahead

I decided March was my month to promote to Team Leader and focused on making the most of it. With the guidance and support of my amazing Team (and Group) Leader Natalie Fieldhouse and also my Divisional Leader, Emma Butt, we put our heads together and planned an incredible "world book month".

I had a few book fairs, and some regular events booked at toddler groups and soft play areas, as well as a couple of charity events.

I had a book fair at my oldest son's school during the first week in March and luckily managed to get it set up on the Tuesday (5th March). I then went into labour on the Wednesday!! Fortunately, I had some fantastic team members (upline and downline) who were able to help me fulfil my commitments and thanks to their support and willingness to cover events for me, I made it to Team leader.

I am now looking forward to building my Usborne business further, with my World Book Day baby here to remind me that all things are possible if you put your mind to it!"

Thanks for sharing your fantastic story Nina, we're so proud that Usborne Books at Home allows families to spend more time together and earn extra money.
