Organiser of the Month - Stephanie Gibson
25th June 2019
We are always amazed by the imaginative ways in which our Organisers connect with their local communities. After an already impressive start to her Usborne career, June's inspirational Organiser of the Month has used her passion for beautiful books and meeting new people to create something truly special.
Stephanie was nominated by her Mentor, Christina Taylor:
"Steph joined Usborne in November 2018 and it was clear from the start of her venture that she was going to be a success. The passion, effort and enthusiasm that Steph applies in all areas of her business is outstanding, and she is so supportive both with her own team and the wider division. Her team page is always buzzing with maximum engagement and most of her team members are doing so well, guided by her creativity and pure love for the books.
The main reason for my nomination, though, is that Steph has done something really special with her business. To reignite her own love of reading, she began hosting a small monthly book club from her home. The preparation and planning Steph applies to this club is fantastic. She sends out the book with a little treat, and every month her members meet at her house to share their thoughts, all aided with some "refreshments".
To jump to today, Steph's book club is an established event with over 200 members and a huge online community. One of my favourite incentives that Steph runs is a giveaway where members post a picture of where they are reading the book of the month. This has resulted in pictures being sent in from all sorts of locations - from waterfalls to bathrooms! - from all over the world.
What Steph has created here in Liverpool is really something special. She has reignited a love of reading for her members and has reintroduced the importance of taking time for yourself to so many women. She has done all of this with professionalism, determination and love. I am SO proud of her!"
Stephanie shares her Usborne story with us:
"I joined Usborne during my maternity leave as I needed the extra income to allow me to have longer away from my teaching job to spend with my little girl, Eirlys. I met my Mentor, Christina, when I took Eirlys to a local story telling event and was inspired by what she was doing.
I didn't really plan to build a business, but found that I enjoyed sharing the books. I also loved the division and the community I found myself a part of. I have the most supportive and inspiring Mentor in Christina. She never fails to help me see the potential in myself and the Usborne opportunity, so I am truly grateful to her.
Having been encouraged to step out of my comfort zones and dream big, I hit all of my Quickstart Milestones and promoted to Team Leader 12 weeks after joining. My self-confidence has grown and I've quickly built my own team of 18 incredible ladies who I've enjoyed supporting to achieve their own goals. I just know they are going to continue to do amazing things in the future!
I love meeting new people and putting these beautiful books into the hands of children, but my favourite part of my business is my book club. What started as a few friends getting together once a month to discuss a book over a couple of drinks has blossomed into a large group of lovely ladies who encourage each other to have a little "me" time. We all enjoy taking some precious time away from our busy lives to enjoy a good book, and chat to new friends. We have enjoyed a wide variety of the YA fiction titles, and look forward to devouring more.
I'm so proud to have created this community, which has helped new mums and busy ladies with everything from social anxiety to finding new friends - and it continues to grow each month!
I can't believe how far I've come and what I've achieved in such a short space of time. I can't wait to see what my future with Usborne brings!"
Congratulations, Stephanie! A copy of our June Book of the Month will be on its way to you very soon.
