Book of the Month - Lift-the-flap My Day

1st June 2018

With over 75 flaps to lift, this adorable book will help children to recognise and order daily events such as getting dressed and eating lunch. It's full of things to talk about, and there are lots of counting and matching activities throughout.

The book starts with Sam Mouse just waking up. Children can lift up the sequence words to find out what Sam does each morning and compare it to their own morning routines. There is very little text, so children can tell their own stories as they lift each flap.

Sam Mouse then goes to preschool, has lunchtime, then takes a trip to the shops, then goes to the park, before bathtime, storytime and bed. Each page is adorably themed, and full of things for little children to spot and search for.

Our favourite page is 'Playtime', where there are seven flaps along the bottom of the page. Under each flap is a challenge for children to find that number of things under the bigger flaps e.g. five windmills, which is great for practising their counting, and also developing their look and find skills.

Lift-the-flap My Day is a fun and interactive way to explore daily routines with your child. It's full of look and talk about opportunities, as well as matching and counting activities. The detailed illustrations and short text, mean that children can create their own stories throughout, and change them each time they look at the book.
