Our 'foody fundraiser' for School Aid

15th March 2016

As you may already be aware, through celebrating our 35th Birthday year, we are working with the charity School Aid to help raise enough money to establish an Usborne library in Africa. We want to support the children who aren't as fortunate as us and don't get access to the thousands of wonderful Usborne titles on offer day-to-day.

It is proven that British books successfully supplement local resources and help to create the libraries that are so desperately needed in disadvantaged places in Africa, so the target we have set to raise is £20,000.

So, on Friday 11th March, everyone at Usborne HQ in Oxford had donned their aprons and chefs hats to produce lots of tasty treats for our charity bake sale.

Unashamedly, we all love anything with chocolate, pastry and sponge, so the sight of malteser cakes, scones and victoria sponges from 9am was just too good to walk past!

'Elevenses' came a little early that day, but the generousity of staff continued throughout. Our Accountant, Jon had even produced the most amazing chili to ensure that lunchtime was taken care of.

Needless to say, we all went home very, very full. Except perhaps for our Marketing Director... who in his words, "stupidly gave up cake for Lent."

Our total so far stands at £124.70 (on top of the £6000+ that has already been raised!). We must say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who baked, donated and ate!
